Metals
The metals we feature in our designs are responsibly sourced, including 14k gold, 18k gold, and rose gold-plating, and Sterling Silver. We use these metals because they provide the highest quality at relatively affordable prices.
Sterling silver: a precious metal in high-quality jewelry made of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals. This is a wonderful base material because it’s long-lasting. TTT silver-tone pieces are all plated in rhodium (a platinum family), a rare, precious metal that gives the piece extra shine, luster, and durability. Brow our sterling silver collection and discover the latest fashion trends in sterling silver jewelry.
Gold vermeil: a high-quality type of gold-plated jewelry needed to have 925 sterling silver as its base material, and the gold layer needs to be at least a 2.5 microns thickness. TTT’s gold vermeil pieces have a super thick layer of gold plating for long-lasting color and shine. Our vermeil products use 14k gold or 18k gold plating that is 2.5-3.0 microns thick, which is 5x thicker than regular “gold-plated” jewelry and 100x thicker than regular “flash-plated” jewelry.
Solid gold: the ultimate luxury material, gold is a rare precious metal that does not oxidize or discolor. We use 14k gold or 18k gold, which means it is 58.33% gold or 75% gold. We chose them for their beautiful, subtle hue and exceptional durability. TTT solid gold jewelry is full of delicate details and intricate designs, shining with craftsmanship.
Which karat gold is best for my jewelry?
The most common mixtures of gold are 14K, 18K, and 22K, but 14K and 18K are the most ideal for jewelry.
24K (100% pure gold)
Being the highest karat of gold, it‘s easy to assume that 24K is the “best” gold to buy, but Pure gold is impractical for daily wear (yet the most expensive) for it can be easily scratched and bent.
22K (92% gold)
Even a modest mixture of only 8% alloyed metal makes 22K gold a touch stronger and more durable than 24K gold. Nevertheless, care will need to be taken with this blend as it’s still the softest form of mixed metal jewelry.
18K (75% gold)
This is the most traditional mix of 75% gold and 25% alloyed metals. 18K pieces tend to have a deeper yellow tone than 14K. Because of the higher gold content in 18K pieces, it will also yield a higher price than 14K, and is usually a sign of a higher quality piece of jewelry.
14K (58% gold)
14K gold offers more resistance to wear and tear than either 18K or 22K. 14k has become the most popular gold used in jewelry today due to its cost and durability.
What is the deal with CZ?
Cubic Zirconia is a mineral often used in place of genuine diamonds. It‘s made to look and feel like real diamonds, yet is significantly cheaper, and can be molded into famous diamond shapes such as cushion cut, oval cut, emerald cut, princess cut, and asscher cut, etc. Unlike diamonds, Cubic zirconia can be produced in almost any color. Its brilliant luster fire and bright hues make it an enjoyable addition to any jewelry collection.
